Affirmative Consent in Social Platforms: An Adversarial Design Case Study of Tinder
Inspired by Jane Im et al.'s article, "Yes: Affirmative Consent as a Theoretical Framework for Understanding and Imagining Social Platforms," this project seeks to explore whether affirmative consent can be built into existing social platforms.
Taking a focus on Tinder, the dating app with the greatest amount of active users worldwide, I imagine here how might Tinder be (re)designed to facilitate a user's agency in their interaction with a dating application—and expand upon Im et al.'s argument that affirmative consent can and should be built into social platforms by presenting a series of examples demonstrating Tinder's potentialities.
